Approved Organisation

An organisation that has been verified and confirmed by a curator within OpenOrgs, assigned a stable identifier (OpenOrgs ID).

An individual responsible for the management, curation, and maintenance of data, ensuring its accuracy, completeness, and reliability.

Deduplication Algorithm

A computational process used by OpenOrgs to identify potential duplicates among organisations by analysing similarities in their metadata.

Disambiguation

The process of resolving the confusion between entities that are referred to by the same term or identifier in different data sources.

A term referring to potential duplications of the same organisation identified by the deduplication algorithm or manually by users, requiring resolution to determine if they indeed represent the same entity.

EOSC (European Open Science Cloud)

A European initiative that aims to provide a virtual environment with open and seamless services for storage, management, analysis, and re-use of research data, across borders and scientific disciplines.

Hidden Organisation

An organisation not visible in OpenAIRE's public portals, typically set as such after the resolution of a conflict where duplicate entries for the same organisation exist.

Manual Curation

The process where data curators review and confirm the suggestions made by the automated deduplication algorithm, ensuring accuracy in the identification of organisations.

Metadata Curation

The act of enriching, editing, and correcting the metadata of organisation entities to improve their discoverability and accuracy.

NOAD (National Open Access Desk)

A representative or desk that supports the implementation of Open Access and Open Science practices at a national level, often involved in projects like OpenAIRE.

O

OpenAIRE Graph

A comprehensive graph database that aggregates research outputs and entities (such as publications, datasets, projects, and organisations) from various sources, aiming to enhance discoverability and access to research.

Pending or Suggested Organisation

An organisation awaiting approval by a data curator. Approval grants the organisation an OpenOrgs ID.

Raw Organisation

An organisation as it is initially listed in its original registry, maintaining its original ID until it is processed within OpenOrgs.

Research Organisation Registries

Databases or lists that contain information about organisations involved in research, such as ROR (Research Organization Registry) and EC (European Commission).
